simply organized's top 10 of 2012 - chosen by you!...

couldn't think of a better week to share this top 10 list with you. why? number one, it's a new year and time to reflect on all of the organizing i accomplished last year. and number two, i am in the middle of a major home move so i don't really have an exciting project to share. (which by the way, is going well. check my facebook page for daily updates and photos!)

2012 was my first full year of blogging and i accomplished so much in the organizing department. every project i did was fun and made our life a little simpler. but there were 10 posts in particular that piqued your interest. let's start at number 10 and work our way to number 1, shall we?!

at number 10 is the tour of our super fun playroom...or should i now say, someone else's new super fun playroom (sniff sniff). i can't believe we are leaving behind this awesome little space for the kids. in my tour i shared all about the space and how much fun we had playing with anything and everything up here. and for hours on end. it really was a dream come true space for our kiddos! if you missed this one, be sure to check it out!

number 9 is an easy little DIY project i shared in the spring - DIY family handprint framed art. all i did was trace each little hand in our family unit onto light spring-colored card stock, cut out the hands, glue them on top of one another and place it inside a frame. we completed the project during spring break while the kids were home. a fun little project that was easy - and i can't wait to display it again this spring..that is, if i can find it in all of the boxes. :-)

number 8 was my post about organized box tops. you know, those little pieces of paper that earn a lot of money for your favorite school. anything small and related to children is hard to stay on top of. in that post i shared how i keep track of them in our home - in a small ziploc bag and then glued to collection sheets.

a lot of you loved number 7 - how to clean your high-efficiency washing machine. i have to admit, that was one of my favorite's too! this was one of those posts that was close to my heart - i was having an issue with the washer smelling like mildew, i did a ton of research, and then i shared all of my tips and research with you. there is nothing worse than fresh mildew smelling clothing, right? if your machine has that odor, check out the post for my tips!

number 6 was another post that was near and dear to my own heart - playroom and toy organization! what's better than a super fun playroom? a playroom that is also clean and organized...and has systems in place that encourage the kids to help clean up too!

like most homes, the kitchen is the gathering place for our family. and the fridge gets a lot of love from the 10 hands living here. whenever i go to the market, i spend a little time cleaning and organizing the fridge before adding those new fresh items. that post came in at number 5 this year.

one of my biggest home organization projects of 2012 was to completely re-organize the pantry. not only did i re-org the space, i also added a pretty wall stencil to give it a little more character. that post from early in the year came in at number 4.

a more recent post hit the big time fast - at number 3 it's all about organized cords. can't say i'm surprised so many of you viewed this one...i think every home struggles with how to organize all of those cords in our life!

nothing means more to me than the fact that our outdoor home tour came in at number 2. especially given the fact we are about to say good-bye to this gorgeous home and move on to the next chapter of our lives. it's really bittersweet! in this post i shared a view of the outside of our home....i will never forget this house and all of the joy it brought our little family. it truly holds a special place in my heart - and forever will.

and finally, coming in at number 1....it's an image from a post shared during my week-long series about organizing the small things in your home. funny thing is, it wasn't made popular because i personally created this mudroom. this was an image a friend shared with me after i told her i was hoping to one day create a mudroom in our garage. all i did was share the above photo as my ultimate dream mudroom space...and pinterest took over from there. the power of pinterest is amazing! that little image brings a ton of visitors my way each and every day...and i'm so glad it's out there so i have the opportunity to meet more of you! this post is my all time high post...period. apparently everyone loves this mudroom that is IN the garage! can't say i blame you...i would love to have one too! who knows, maybe in our california home i'll make our dream come true and create one just for us.

those were my top 10 posts of 2012 - chosen by YOU!

and just for fun...my top 3 pages (these are on the menu bar at the top of the blog)....

number 1 = organized spaces

number 2 = our home tour

number 3 = about me

thank you so much for joining me here at simply organized for the last year. i'm looking forward to sharing a whole lot more in the coming year. like i said earlier this week, this is going to be the year of organized moving. can't wait to share it all here with you in 2013. happy new year once again!
